What is peace, then, in a home with children? Contentment is peace.
Is a child happy to be where he is? That is a kind of peace. If he wakes up disappointed, that is not peace, no matter how quiet the house is or how clean and "feng shuid" his room is.
Peace, like learning, is largely internal.

This is beautiful, and so succinct. Sometimes it can be hard to define peace without “peace and quiet”, but “contentment” captures the parts that “quiet” misses.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry I hadn't seen the comment when it was new. Thanks for sharing which words are especially helpful. "Contentment" seems peaceful and quiet and also warm and calm. :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't always have those conditions, but I remember how to move closer toward them.
