Meaningful learning

Learning must be meaningful. When a person doesn't see the point, when they don't know how the information relates or is useful in "the real world," then the learning is superficial and temporary - not "real" learning.

  1. The photo was taken in Haight-Ashbury, when Holly and I visited Heather Booth, who was living in Oakland, and Heather took us touristing. Their boots seemed to represent New Mexico and Texas (where Heather more often lives), and it amused me.

The fringed moccasins are from Minnesota. I don't know where the cowboy boots were made.

It was a connecting the dots comparison/contrast moment. I like those.
