  1. Absolutely.
    This is where a mindfulness meditation practice has been so useful for me, strengthening my ability to notice the urge to speak as it arises and make more conscious choices in my communication. It requires a huge amount of practice however.

  2. Making a decision about what to say or do in the next five minutes doesn't take a huge amount of practice. It takes enough thought to make one choice.

    Each choice makes the next one easier. (There's a sound file there.)
